ALL analyzes its market based on the concept of a "strictly defined service market ". This concept was developed as part of a potential market study carried out in 2000, by Bain & Co. Its strictly defined service market encompasses (a) products in market sectors, which have been currently served by the company and (b) areas where there is a clear freight advantage. Therefore, segments, which are usually served by railway operations in the North America, but currently are inactive, such as automotive markets, export and import of containers, refrigerated products and LTL cargo, are not included. In the assessment of potential market, the concept of a strictly defined service market does not presume any growth of GDP or exports. Even based on this concept, the market share would be aproximately 30% in Brazil and 36% in Argentina.
